Rebekah Shephard, DNP, APRN, PMHNP‑BC

Associate Professor

Dr. Shephard is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with over 37 years of nursing experience, including 36 years as an advanced practice psychiatric CNS and nurse practitioner. She has provided care for adults with severe and chronic mental health disorders, veterans post-9/11 deployment, and individuals living with HIV/AIDS who also face mental health challenges. She was part of the faculty at Rush University College of Nursing, where she helped transition the PMHNP Master's degree to a DNP degree. Dr. Shephard has forensic psychiatry experience as the Director of Forensic Nursing at Mendota Mental Health Institute in Madison, WI. Currently, she is an associate professor at Rosalind Franklin University, where she has been instrumental in developing and teaching the PMHNP specialty content for the program. She also provides psychiatric consultation services to a practice in Gurnee, IL.
