Dr. Tasbirul Islam graduated from Dhaka Medical College in 1992. He successfully completed residency in internal medicine in 2005 and fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine in 2008. He passed the examinations and became a member of the Royal College of Physicians of UK in 1997. He was named Best Resident for three consecutive years and was recipient of the Golden Apple/Stethoscope Award for Excellence in Teaching at Drexel University College of Medicine. In 2010 and 2022, he was voted the best teaching attending by the residents and students. Dr. Islam is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care and Neuro-critical Care Medicine. 

He is well published (over 20 papers) in peer reviewed journals. His current roles include Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Chicago Medical School and Indiana University School of Medicine and Site Lead, Division of Critical Care Medicine at Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital. He formerly served as course director of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine for medical students of Indiana University School of Medicine, West Lafayette campus.
