Chad Ruback serves as Vice President for Institutional Advancement, leading philanthropy and engagement efforts in support of the university’s bold vision and aspirations. The Institutional Advancement team builds trusted partnerships to help the university to expand its efforts to steer health care and research in the right direction — one that elevates public trust, promotes innovation, addresses critical healthcare workforce needs and strives to achieve better outcomes for all. A 35-year veteran in academic health care and higher education advancement, he has held leadership positions at University of Illinois Foundation, University of Iowa Health Care, Carroll College (WI), Eureka College (IL), and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and master’s degree in Higher Education and Educational Administration, both from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, and an executive MBA from the University of Iowa. Chad provides service and thought leadership to several national organizations, including the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, and Association of Fundraising Professional. His teams have earned award recognition from both the AAMC and CASE. A frequent presenter at AAMC conferences and past chair of the AAMC’s Group on Institutional Advancement national committee, Chad was honored by the AAMC for service leadership and commitment to peer-to-peer learning with its Distinguished Service Award in 2019.
