Dr. Lisa Hopp is Dean of the College of Nursing at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. She joined RFU in 2023 as Vice Dean and Professor in the College of Nursing and was named interim dean in July 2024 before being appointed dean in March 2025. Prior to joining RFU, Dr. Hopp served for nearly three decades as a nursing educator and administrator at Purdue University in Indiana, including as Dean and Professor of the College of Nursing at Purdue University Northwest. At Purdue, she led the merger of two regional nursing campuses, launched three new nursing programs and helped establish the first doctoral program at a public regional campus, along with robust online graduate nursing programs.

Dr. Hopp’s clinical background includes work as a staff nurse in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Rush Medical Center. Her early research focused on respiratory muscle function in healthy people and patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, work supported by the National Institute of Nursing Research. Her scholarship later shifted to evidence synthesis, implementation science and evidence-based nursing practice. She was the founding director of the Indiana Center for Evidence Based Nursing Practice at Purdue Northwest, a center affiliated with JBI, and she continues to be recognized for her work in systematic review methodology and evidence-based healthcare.

Dr. Hopp is the author of Introduction to Evidence Based Practice: A Practical Guide for Nurses, now in its third edition. She has trained faculty, advanced practice nurses and library scientists in systematic review methodologies and has contributed to global collaborations focused on evidence synthesis, transfer and implementation. At RFU, she supported the successful initial national accreditation of the university’s Doctor of Nursing Practice and Master’s in Nursing programs by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, with both programs earning the maximum five-year initial accreditation term.

A Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, Dr. Hopp is also a Distinguished Alumna of the University of Illinois College of Nursing. She is a member and former chair of the National League for Nursing’s Center of Excellence in Nursing Education Review Panel. Dr. Hopp earned her Bachelor of Arts in French from Grinnell College and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Rush University. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing and PhD in nursing from the University of Illinois Chicago.
