September 20-21, 2024

We are thrilled to welcome back our CMS reunion classes ending in 4 and 9! We invite you to join your classmates, CMS Dean Archana Chatterjee, faculty and our amazing students for an on-campus experience, class-led dinners and a CMS Alumni Signature Event that includes an alumni reception, the Distinguished Alumni Awards Presentation and an after-party in Chicago. Arrival Thursday evening is encouraged.

Friday, September 20, 2024

  • 8:00 am – 9:15 am Alumni Welcome Breakfast , The Blackstone Hotel, 636 S. Michigan Avenue, Chicago. Enjoy a full breakfast before boarding the shuttle. Transportation provided to/from The Blackstone Hotel & campus. 
  • 11:00 am – 3:00 pm Campus Experience Highlights
    • Join us for an exclusive CMS simulation interactive experience! You'll engage with our cutting-edge simulation technology and learn about the latest training methods for medical students at our Center for Advanced Simulation in Healthcare at our North Chicago campus. You will hear about our plan and vision for the recent award of $8.1 million by the Illinois Board of Higher Education to build a virtual health system and expand simulation. The planned 20,000-square-foot simulation center and virtual health system will integrate novel training methods, emerging health technologies and artificial intelligence to advance patient safety and prepare an interprofessional healthcare workforce for a rapidly changing and increasingly complex healthcare landscape.
    • Anatomy Lab
      You will see The John J. Sheinin, MD, PhD, DSc, Gross Anatomy Laboratory, the location for all cadaver-based education for students. The anatomy lab supports the teaching mission of the university both through its use as a large active learning space and also through providing resources and administrative support to any area of the university that requires content related to anatomy.
    • Networking Lunch with CMS Students, Fellow Alumni and Faculty
      Learn about current CMS initiatives and how CMS alumni support student success, and have made a difference in the lives of students by sharing their time, expertise and experiences.
    • Visit a special exhibit highlighting the intersection of medical ethics, Jewish physicians and the Renaissance. Delve into foundational texts, ideas and principals in medical history illustrated through rare books, manuscripts and artifacts from the collection of Aaron Feingold, MD '76.
  • 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm All-Alumni Cocktail Hour, Toast the class of 1974 on their 50th anniversary at The Blackstone before heading out to your class dinner.
  • 7:30 pm CMS Alumni Class-led Dinners
    • Complimentary 50th Reunion Class of 1974 Medallion Dinner at The Blackstone Hotel in Chicago.
    • CMS Class of 1964 Dinner hosted by Mervyn Sahud, MD '64, at Mercat a la Planxa, The Blackstone Hotel in Chicago.
    • All other milestone reunion years will work with their class leaders on a restaurant location in Chicago. A reunion committee is needed to organize your dinner, volunteer today!

  • 9:00 am – 10:00 am Half-Century Club Continental Breakfast and Conversation
    Don't miss an exciting opportunity to hear from Arthur S. Levine, MD '64, as he describes the aims and achievements of the several stages of his career as a physician-scientist as well as an academic leader, and guides a conversation on mid to late career changes. Dr. Levine was the Scientific Director, NICHD (NIH), and then Dean of the School of Medicine and Senior Vice-Chancellor for the Health Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh for 22 years. He is now the Executive Director of the university's Brain Institute,  leading basic research on Alzheimer’s Disease after many years of cancer research. Open to all CMS alumni who have celebrated 50+ years and their guests at The Blackstone Hotel in Chicago.
  • 11:30 am – 12:20 pm Lunch at the host hotel, The Blackstone Hotel, 636 S. Michigan Avenue, Chicago. Join us for an informal lunch before boarding a shuttle to the River Cruise at the Blackstone Hotel. 
  • 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm Chicago Architecture Center River Cruise
    Voted as one of the Top 10 Boat Tours in North America by USA Today. Enjoy a beautiful 90 minute Chicago River tour and hear how Chicago grew from a small settlement into one of the world's largest cities in less than 100 years. 
  • 6:30 pm CMS Alumni Signature Event at The Gage in Chicago 
    Celebrate your class and the CMS 2024 alumni award recipients at a sumptuous cocktail and buffet reception. Each year, Chicago Medical School presents awards to distinguished alumni for outstanding contributions to medicine and the biomedical sciences as well as exceptional service and early career achievement. Continue celebrating at the post awards after-party! Cocktail attire, Transportation provided to/from The Blackstone & The Gage.
