Chief Resident Welcome

Welcome!

We are happy to have your interest in our program!

Our names are Ryan Stefancik and Neel Toor, and we are the Co-Chief Psychiatry Residents for the 2023-2024 Academic Year.

The residency through Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin is a midsized program, with a wide variety of outpatient and inpatient experiences. We would say one of our greatest strengths is the close relationship among residents and attendings. Our encouraging faculty and supportive relationships provide a rich environment to learn in.

Residents join our program from all backgrounds and experiences. We have had residents join directly after medical school, during a midlife career change, and from overseas. We take pride in the variety of backgrounds, as they help residents better understand their patients and educate each other.

Through 4 years here, we serve many different communities ranging from the city of Chicago to near the Illinois-Wisconsin border. This gives us the opportunity to work in a diverse set of systems, which can help us decide which practice opportunities are the right fit for life after training. Our program also offers the opportunity to fast track to Child & Adolescent Fellowship or moonlight in senior years.

Each year we also have many residents match into their top choices of fellowship. Recently we’ve had graduates go to prestigious programs, such as Yale, Northwestern, and Loyola.

We look forward to meeting you! We know that your time here will offer the chance to grow into the psychiatrist you hope to be. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us!

Best,
