What you need to apply


  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education prior to matriculation into the program.
  • A minimum overall GPA of 3.00 for the last two years of undergraduate study is required.

Licensure & Certification

  • Applicants must hold a current licensure as a registered professional nurse in the United States, its territories, or protectorates.
  • Current ACLS, PALS, and BLS Certifications.
  • Current Wisconsin Nursing License.
  • Current Illinois Nursing License.
  • Nursing Licenses must be kept current throughout the program.

Professional Experience

  • At least one, preferably two, years of experience as an RN in an ICU.
  • Two or more years of experience is strongly preferred. 

Standardized Exams

  • The Graduate Education Record (GRE) examination is required.
  • GRE scores must be sent directly to Rosalind Franklin University from Education Testing Services (ETS).
  • There is no minimum score for the GRE requirement.  Successful candidates typically have scores above the 50th percentile in all three areas.

Letters of Recommendation

  • A minimum of three (3) references should be submitted through NursingCAS, and should come from at least three of the following individuals who know you personally and can attest to your performance:
    • Professor/Faculty Member    
    • Supervisor/Employer (whomever is responsible for your annual performance review)
    • CRNA
    • Physician


  • Official transcripts submitted from each college, university, and community college previously attended.

Computer Competency

  • Proficiency in basic computer skills.
