Local Community Service Opportunities

The following community based organizations are community partners with RFUMS, and have worked with students, staff and faculty:

Great Lakes Adaptive Sports AssociationMission Statement: GLASA promotes and supports the optimal development and well being of youth and adults who have a primary physical or visual impairment through the provision of inclusive recreational, fitness and competitive sports activities and to offer opportunities for empowerment through education, leadership and training in collaboration with community-based organizations (adapted from GLASA website).  Volunteer opportunities include assisting athletes on the basketball court, in the swimming pool or anywhere were sports take place. Lambs Farm: Lambs Farm provides all of the essential ingredients for people to grow which includes a safe, caring, living environment; an extended family of peers with shared values and mutual respect; opportunities to have productive employment and to make a contribution to the community while being as self-sufficient as possible (adapted from Lambs Farm website). Volunteer opportunities include providing landscaping and maintenance services, staffing special events and working in the cafe or gift shop.
