Ziemowit Mazur, Ed.M, MS, PA-C has worked in physician assistant education since 2010. As a physician assistant Ziemowit worked primarily in internal medicine and primary care, while volunteering at Healthy Families Clinic (pediatric service) and Interprofessional Community Clinic (primary care) providing services to underrepresented populations in Lake County community.
He earned his BS at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) and a Master’s Degree in Higher Education Organization and Leadership from the same institution. He then earned a Master’s of Science degree in physician assistant practice from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science (RFUMS). He went on to complete a certificate program in Health Professions Education at RFUMS.
Ziemowit was a lecturer, instructor, and academic coordinator prior to his current appointment as Assistant Professor and Associate Program Director in the PA Program. He continues to practice clinically as a physician assistant with RFUMS HealthSystem through Community Care Connections Mobile Clinic, focusing on preventive healthcare for the underserved and underinsured in Lake County area.
Ziemowit was elected as a public education and marketing committee chair for Illinois Academy of Physician Assistants (IAPA) in 2013 and 2014, also serving as RFUMS PA program liaison to IAPA since 2012. He was elected as the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) House of Delegates Illinois co-representative for 2016-2017 term. He was honored with College of Health Professions Outstanding Teacher Award in 2014.
