Mayra Quintana, MD, Director of Admissions and Instructor, was appointed July, 2001. She graduated from the University of Puerto Rico in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in science, majoring in Chemistry and minoring in Mathematics. Upon graduating she moved to the mainland and worked as a Research Associate in Endocrinology before returning to school and completing her doctorate of medicine degree at the University of Illinois in 1989. She then worked in pharmaceutical quality control and product support, and as a QC consultant for the FL-DOH. Back in Illinois she joined the Chicago Medical School’s Neurology Department as Clerkship Coordinator before becoming the Physician Assistant Department’s admissions coordinator a few years later. She participates in university-wide interprofessional courses and activities, and is a member of the College of Health Professions Committee for Enrollment and Admissions.
