Dr. Nasrin Haghighat, Faculty in the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy at the Chicago Medical School, received her B.S. in Biological Sciences in 1972 and M.S. in 1974 in Embryology both from University of Tehran, and Ph.D. in Developmental Biology in Texas Women’s University in 1984. From 1986-1989 she trained as a Postdoctoral Fellow at The Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in the department of Biochemistry. From 1989- 1994 she worked as a Research Associate at the University of Chicago in the department of Neurosurgery. Dr. Haghighat started at the Chicago Medical School in 1994. She was highly active in research with many publications mainly pertaining to the topic of the cytoprotective effect of estrogen on neurodegenerative disease. She has been teaching for the past 18 years in Anatomy and Histology and has recently been appointed to Course Director of Summer Anatomy.
