Dr. Lynn Janas is an Assistant Professor and Chair for the Department of Nutrition at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. She has taught online courses in the department since 1994. Currently, she is working toward her Master Online Teacher Certificate from the University of Illinois, Illinois Online Network. Lynn completed her M.S. in Foods and Nutrition and Ph.D. in Nutritional Sciences at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, in 1980 and 1986, respectively. She studied protein nutrition in infancy, looking at whether the protein nutritional status of infants fed cow milk-based infant formula with modification in the whey and casein protein fractions could match the accepted model for performance, infants fed human milk.
Before teaching at the University, Dr. Janas spent 8 years with the Pediatric Nutrition Group at Ross Products Division of Abbott Laboratories. She was responsible for both clinical research in infants using the human milk-fed infant as a model and she offered scientific support to the business. Her research areas included protein and amino acid requirements of healthy fullterm infants and the nutritional adequacy and clinical efficacy of formulas for infants with special nutritional needs.
