Dr. Bottero received her Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Aspects of Biology from the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis, France in 2002. She worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, La Jolla, CA from 2002 to 2006. She joined Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in July 2006 as a Senior Research Associate.
RESEARCH
Human herpes virus-8 (HHV-8, KSHV) is a recently identified herpes virus implicated in the etiology of Kaposi’s sarcoma and primary effusion lymphoma in AIDS patients and immune-suppressed transplant patients. Our current research goal is to understand how and why the virus hijacks host signaling pathways and activate some cellular transcription factors. Such results are expected to have an important positive impact because the identified component will lead to the development of new therapeutic approaches to control KSHV infection and related malignancies.
